Story
"अन्नदानं परं दानं विद्यादानमतः परम्।
अन्नेन क्षणिकं तृप्तिं विद्यया च निरन्तराम्॥"
Meaning: Annadan satisfies the body temporarily, but Vidyadan (knowledge) satisfies eternally. However, Annadan is still considered supreme because it sustains life.
On the auspicious occasion of Shravan Purnima, observed on 09th August, Kashi Archan invites all devotees to participate in the Annadan Mahadan Seva – a powerful act of selfless giving and divine fulfillment. As per ancient scriptures, Annadan (offering of food) is considered the highest form of charity, and when performed during Shravan Purnima, its benefits are magnified manifold.
Spiritual Significance:
Shravan Purnima marks the full moon of the sacred month of Shravan, ruled by Lord Shiva. It is also the day of Raksha Bandhan, when divine bonds are celebrated. Performing Annadan on this day in Kashi – the moksha-bhoomi, grants immense punya (spiritual merit), removes doshas, and ensures blessings for generations.
